The Problem
Students get stuck on concepts all the time, and a tutor isn’t always available at 10pm. AISA needed to fill that gap with instant, conversational help that adapts to each student’s level. The tricky part: it had to feel helpful without replacing the teacher.
What We Did
We designed the chat interface to feel like talking to a smart friend, not a robot. AI responses use proper formatting: code blocks, bullet points, step-by-step breakdowns. Complex answers need to be scannable, not walls of text.
We added a confidence indicator so students can see when the AI is very sure versus when they should double-check with a teacher. Being upfront about limitations builds more trust than pretending to know everything.
The unexpected win was the teacher dashboard. It shows which topics students are asking about most, turning AISA into a diagnostic tool. Teachers could see where the class was struggling before the next lesson even started.
The Result
Launched as part of the mySecondTeacher ecosystem. The teacher dashboard ended up being the feature people talked about most. Teachers valued knowing what confused their students even more than the students valued the chat itself.
